Gender Diverse Cultural Awareness Training

Our Mission

We aspire to reduce health & social disparities and disproportionate negative outcomes of discrimination for LGBTQ+ and gender-diverse people via education and programs, which encourage the conditions for safe and affirming services, spaces, relationships and communities.

With the increasing demand for social justice and affirmative practices, it is imperative that clinicians, providers, centers, and staff understand how to meet the needs of diverse populations and cultivate spaces where all patients and consumers may feel included, understood, and valued.

Members of the LGBTQ+, non-binary and gender-diverse community face many difficulties accessing medical and mental health care as well as other services and resources. A major barrier to access is the lack of providers who are adequately trained for and responsive to LGBTQ+ and non-binary specific issues and few have sufficient understanding of gender diverse peoples’ experiences. This creates continued access barriers for this community receiving care from a trans-centered and affirmative lens.

Changing the way we see world is possible.

Our LGBTQ+, non-binary, and gender-diverse cultural awareness training, conducted by professional LGBTQ+ experienced facilitators, are designed to help providers and staff offer respectful services that affirm these clients’ identities, their experiences in your office, and better support their overall well-being.

In a non-judgmental, compassionate, anti-oppression context, staff will learn about the health & social disparities across LGBTQ+ and gender diverse communities; appropriate and up-to-date ways of engaging with patients in these communities; and the compounding impacts of intersecting identities – all to help create an affirming and welcoming environment for this community.

Participants are encouraged to examine their personal beliefs and social conditioning regarding gender, sexuality, and diverse identities, to provide the context and self-awareness needed to work compassionately with LGBTQ+ people. These tailored education courses will provide an overview of the spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identities and offer ongoing depth of learning, personal exploration, and affirmative implementation of this knowledge.
